Case Study Cafe 3: Implementing New Technologies in KM/KO

The IKO Conference has always been interested in sharing innovative approaches and solutions. In this case study cafe, which will be discussion-intensive, we will examine two cases of implementing novel technologies in the service of knowledge management and knowledge organisation. In Case 5, Moritz Müller of Squirro will describe a case study of how ChatGPT was combined with safe and secure search within the firewall of a Swiss insurance company to deliver enhanced search capabilities. In Case 6, Andy Farnsworth of Morning Strategy will describe a project to build a prototype Process Assistant using ChatGPT for supporting users in designing processes and process resources, providing process user support, and improving processes based on feedback.

Case 5: ChatGPT on Top of your Data: implementing intelligent enterprise search in combination with an LLM

Dr Moritz Müller is General Manager Asia for Squirro, an enterprise search and data analytics/ insights provider with clients in banking, insurance, public sector and compliance and regulation.


Moritz has been working in the area of digital transformation  for more than 5 years. Having headed Squirro Product Management for 3 and a half years, he is now fully focusing on delivering successful digital transformation projects to corporate clients in financial services, manufacturing, and the public sector in the Asia Pacific region, from his base in Singapore.

Moritz works closely with clients to provide innovative solutions based on Squirro's Insight Engine platform which connects to the data sources, analyses the data as part of the enrichment pipeline and makes it usable either via API or on integrated dashboards. Squirro's Insight journey covers use cases from state-of-the-art semantic search to projects generating machine-learning driven insights and recommendations.

With a PhD in Geophysics, 2 years of experience in oil and gas exploration and multiple years of experience in IT project implementation, he also has the technical background to work with clients on defining the best technical solutions for their needs.

Andy Farnsworth
Andy Farnsworth is Founder and Principal of Morning Strategy, a niche work design and organization design consultancy based in Toronto, Canada. Morning Strategy seeks to work with clients to understand and model organizational processes, tasks and structures, both to reflect principles of complexity, and their human and behavioral elements, and to provide tools and processes that help organisations become more deliberate in their practices, to scale their operations through a re-imagining of work processes, and to develop an operations roadmap that integrates customers, people, workflows, and tools.

Prior to founding Morning Strategy in 2022, Andy worked on procedural support, financial and strategic guidance, and policy development with academic institutions, municipal governments, the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority, and with the Toronto Transit Commission, where he latterly worked as a Business Efficiencies Consultant leading internal teams through major change initiatives, and redesigning how those teams organized, operated, and succeeded.

Andy has a degree in Geography from Trent University, is a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, has a Certificate in Human-Centered Systems Thinking from IDEO U, and is a certified developer on Coda, a platform for integrating documents, data and collaboration into a single solution in support of work.
